Development is an integration of four
major programmes under the umbrella
of Community Development Department,
which are as follows:
COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME:
Nepal Red Cross
Society has been implementing Community
Development
Programme (CDP) since 1983. CDP was
implemented at first in 1983 in Kavre
focusing its activities mainly on
promoting health services in the project
area. The Society expanded CD projects
to other nine districts within 1988
with the objective of meeting basic
needs of the people. So far CDP has
been implemented in 29 districts with
different approaches and is already
phased out of 20 districts. At present
CDP is being implemented in 9 districts
in three models with a focus on improving
the situation of the most vulnerable.
OBJECTIVE
OF CDP:
To improve the situation
of the most vulnerable communities,
families and individuals to make them
stronger so that they can enjoy fuller
and more productive life and become
less vulnerable to disasters.

COVERAGE
OF CDP:
At present
nine Community Development Projects
in three different models are being
implemented in nine districts with
the partnership of various Red Cross
National Societies. The details are
given below:

Baitadi, Rasuwa, Dang, Siraha,
Sankhuwashava and Myagdi in partnership
with Swedish, Belgian and Norwegian
Red Cross. |

Twining Projects: Sindhupalchowk
and Okhaldhunga in partnership
with
Swedish Red Cross. |

PHC based Community Project:
Achham in partnership with Danish
Red Cross.
Similarly, Community Development
Projects in 20 districts, which
were started in the 80s and 90s,
are phased out in the following
districts:
Kavreplanchowk, Morang, Dhanusha,
Mahotarri, Lamjung, Dailekh, Pyuthan,
Gulmi, Lalitpur, Sindhuli, Rukum,
Nuwakot, Dolakha, Palpa, Arghakhanchi,
Jajarkot, Terahthum, Makawanpur,
Dhading and Gorkha |
