First aid post in the capital

Keeping in view the growing tension in the capital, Nepal Red Cross Society has started a first aid post in Baneshwor of Kathmandu on 5th February 2006. This post will be transfer to New Road, Bhugol Park from 6th February 2006. The first aid post has been set up to provide first aid services in case of violence in the demonstrations, which is going on from last months. This post will also provide service for the other emergencies as well. First of its kind in the capital, the first aid post is expected to provide immediate first aid services to the people hurt in the possible clashes. After assessing the situation and effectiveness of this service, posts will be further expanded in other areas of the city in coming days.

The post is established as a temporary post with a support of a standby Red Cross car with at least six first aid volunteers. The volunteers are capable of providing all the first aid services that the people may need before they are run to hospitals. They are equipped with necessary skill and minimum accessories.

Nepal Red Cross Society is planning to operate first aid post of this kind in other situations which may lead to emergency need. Head of Nepal Red Cross First Aid Section Mr. Bipin Prasad Dhakal said, "Nepal Red Cross first aid service has been appreciated by all and there are demands that we should provide this service in all emergency situations. And we are rendering first aid service to all victims in an impartial and neutral basis as a humanitarian work".
