Sindhupalchok: urgent need for support

The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) is carrying out support activities and Non-food relief (NFRI) item distribution for 204 families in the Mankha, Ramche, Dhuskun, and Tekanapur areas of Sindhupalchok. The situation led people in 11 other districts to abandon their homes in river bank to safe areas over the days. Mr. Talchabhadel, president of Sindhupalchok Red Cross branch and other volunteers from the Red Cross branch and National Headquarters are meeting people directly affected by the landslide. In addition Red Cross team is involved as a part of local emergency disaster management team lead by local authorities.

“Red Cross has made every effort throughout past several years in addressing the multiple needs of the people affected by violence and natural disasters. Red Cross is recognized worldwide," said the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, while addressing inaugural session of the 43rd Central General Assembly (GA) of the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS). The NRCS organized its 43rd General Assembly on May 9 and 10, 2014 at Lahan in Siraha, eastern part of Nepal.
