VCA is a process of participatory investigation designed to assess and address major risks affecting communities. It aims to determine people’s vulnerability to those risks, and their capacity to cope and recover from a disaster. VCA enables people to prepare for hazards and prevent them from turning into disasters.

CADRE is working to develop community level disaster responders. It is important to reduce vulnerability of people suffering from disaster. It is vital to respond immediately after a disaster when lives can be saved. Building up local disaster awareness and response capacity within communities, CADRE works to empower local communities, giving them a better chance to respond effectively, as well as integrating the community to the national emergency preparedness network.

Course Overview

First aid is the assistance given to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and /or promote recovery with care provided to preserve life. It includes initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) whilst awaiting an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of minor conditions, such as applying a bandage to a cut.

Course overview

Emergency first-aid is mainly focused to take lifesaving and health security remedial actions during disaster, conflict and political clashes. This training will enable the participants to prioritize the sequence for giving first aid, providing essential information on how to deal with emergencies, and how to look after oneself. This training also makes participants enable in assessing and treating causality.
