An orientation program on Volunteer and Staff Retention Guidelines was conducted by Human Resource Development Institute Support Programm (HRDISP) with the support from Belgian Red Cross-Flanders in Hotel Kaptarum Nepalgunj, Banke from 27th to 28th December 2016. The training was attended by 12 District Chapters of NRCS viz. Banke, Bardya, Sukhet, Dang, Salyan, Rukum, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Pyuthan and Doti. Altogether 13 participants (2 Famle and 11 Male) were involved in the program, among them 8 were staff and 5 were volunteers.
A steep, 90-minute climb along a rough-hewn path is the only route up to Pragatishil village. The village sits high in the mountains, about 50 kilometers from Nepal’s western city of Pokhara. The area adjoins Gorkha district - the epicenter of last April’s 7.8-magnitude quake which claimed nearly 9,000 lives and left hundreds of thousands homeless.
The Government of Japan has donated four ambulance vehicles to the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS).
His Excellency Mr. Masashi Ogawa, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Nepal, handed over the keys of the ambulances to Gulmi, Pyuthan, Morang and Udayapur districts chapter leaders of Nepal Red Cross. Chairman of NRCS Mr. Sanjeev Thapa, Secretary General Mr. Dev Ratna Dhakhwa and other office bearers and key staff were present in the handover ceremony organized at the central office of Nepal Red Cross Society in Kathmandu.
