Introduction :
Nepal
Junior /Youth Red Cross was established
on 5 March 1965 (22 Falgun 2021) after
the inception of Nepal Red Cross Society
(NRCS) in Nepal. In the educational
institutions of all the districts
of the kingdom of Nepal, Junior/Youth
Red Cross Circles are organized, developed
and extended as network extensively.
As per the provision made in the Chapter
2, Article 7.3 (e) of the Constitution
of Nepal Red Cross Society, 2020 (with
15th amendment made in 2059)—“to
conduct activities by promoting the
organization and participation of
Junior/Youth Red Cross as an integrated
organ of NRCS.” Up to this date
there are 790288 Junior/Youth members
and 4020 Junior/youth Red Cross Circles.
They are actively involved in different
humanitarian services.
Background :
Among
the programs conducted from the Junior/Youth
Red Cross Department Junior/Youth
Red Cross Organization Development
and Service Program is the Federation
Coordinated and Swedish RC supported
program.Junior/Youth Red Cross Organization
& Service Project aims to strengthen
the capacity of Junior/Youth members
to effectively deliver humanitarian
services of the movement expecting
to develop and implement Junior/Youth
volunteer management framework for
clear and better utilization of the
youth volunteers in the program implementing
districts.
Nepal
Red Cross Society started the Mine
Risk Education (MRE) Program to aware
children and other population in reducing
incidences and casualties relating
to it which is launching in 20 districts.
This program is implemented with the
cooperation of the International Committee
of the Red Cross (ICRC). NRCS is conducting
this program by mobilizing its Junior/Youths
volunteers and networks from 2005
initially conducted in 10 districts
and in 2006 it is expanded another
10 districts
Objective
:
I) Objectives of Junior/Youth Red
Cross
a)
To involve youths in humanitarian
services related to life saving and
health protection including public
awareness activities;
b) To help NRCS in its institutional
development by promoting Red Cross
principles and humanitarian values;
and disseminating International Humanitarian
Law (IHL);
c) To extend cooperation in mitigating
disaster and epidemics; preparedness,
rescue and relief activities;
d) Promotion of the potentialities
of youths by motivating them in voluntary
services and involve them in service
and development motive works according
to time, space and context.
e) To promote national and international
friendships, mutual co-operation,
understanding, good feelings and peace.

a)
To strengthen the capacity of Junior/Youth
members to effectively deliver humanitarian
services of the movement.
III.
Objectives of Mine Risk Education
(MRE)
a.
To raise awareness about the risks
of IEDs, UXO and mines through sessions.
b. To support and extend advocacy
and victim-assistance program
c. To enhance knowledge and skills
through capacity building to maintain
the quality of the program.
