Nepal Marked the Condom Day

Nepal marked the 13th Condom Day with the theme of 'Proper Use of Condoms for Dual Protection." The objectives of the day were to (a) educate people about the importance of use of condoms for birth spacing and disease prevention, and (b) create an open environment to discuss about condoms. The Condom Day was initiated in Nepal thirteen years back mixing education around condom with entertainment. Since then, the day is being organized every year coordinated by Nepal Red Cross Society. The Condom Day is organized across the country immediately after National Festival of Dashain so that the people returned home from abroad specially India could be reached.

 

 

People from different walks of life participated in the Condom Day in different events. Boarder site weekly information centers, media campaign, cultural shows and rallies were the major attraction of the Day. People, who have returned back from India to celebrate their great festival Dashain were aware on the importance of use of condoms. Similarly, media were covered widely and disseminated the message through entertainment manner. Cultural shows, folk songs, duet songs and were performed are aired by the radio and televisions. Likewise, rallies, street drams, interactions, games, publications of articles etc are the other attractions of the day.
