Introduction :
Nepal
Red Cross Society has about one million
members and most of them are committed
for volunteering. Similarly there
are thousands of volunteers in community
level who are not the members of Society.
Members and volunteers are involving
simultaneously in Nepal Red Cross
activities to improve the situation
of vulnerable people.
Volunteers
are the most important resource of
a National Society. Nepal Red Cross
has been mobilizing volunteers in
service and development sectors. Society
has carried out volunteer management
program and established administrative
structure in central level.
Volunteer Investment and Value Audit
(VIVA) was conducted in two different
project areas as a pilot study where
NRCS has implemented projects. The
findings are highly encouraging and
many partners are showing their interest
on findings.
Objective : The volunteer
capacity of NRCS is strengthened at
all levels towards self reliance to
better serve the vulnerable communities.

Project
: "Volunteer management
and service project" is
being implemented as a pilot project
in Palpa and Jhapa district chapters
with the support of Korean Red Cross
and DFID through Federation. This
project aims to establish volunteer
management system for planning, recruitment,
selection, mobilisation, training,
recognising and retaining of volunteers
into programmes and activities of
NRCS
