Junior / youths committed to serving more
 

Junior / youths of the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) have committed to providing more effective services in the present conflict situation of the country in a recently organized National Seminar of the Junior/ Youths. The National Seminar organized in Banepa of Kabhre district on 25-26 June was participated by more than 150 junior/ youths and teacher sponsors from 50 out of 75 districts of the country. The Seminar has also adopted the Banepa Declaration.

In the Declaration, the Junior/ Youths have shown commitment to make 13 more districts RC emblem misuse free within this year, disseminate the International Humanitarian Law and the RC principles, provide impartial services in times of conflict and natural disaster and strengthen the Junior Youth wing of the NRCS.

Furthermore, the biggest annual gathering of the Junior/Youth, the Seminar was inaugurated by the Chairman of the NRCS Mr. Ramesh Kumar Sharma. Inaugurating the programme, Chairman Mr. Sharma said the Junior/ Youth wing has a glorious history in Nepal. He added, "In every disaster, the Junior/ Youths are on the front line to save lives." Secretary General Mr. Dev Ratna Dhakhwa appreciated the junior/ youths for their outstanding performance in times of emergency and said they have to play an important role in promoting image of the Red Cross. Chairman of the Central Junior Youth Committee Mr. Hari prasad Sharma said it was the responsibility of all the junior and youths to implement all the commitments made in the seminar. Head of the ICRC in Nepal, Ms Friedrun Medert and the International Federation Representative Ms. Karin Hakansson Furga highlighted on the role the youths can play.

Winners of various national level competitions were awarded certificates and prizes on the occasion.
